R.S Wines is one of Bristol's oldest Independent Wine Merchants, established in 1985.

We genuinely believe that small is beautiful. Our wines are from individual artisan and family producers who believe in the efficacy of sustainable methods of production. Many of our wines are certified Organic or Biodynamic, but not exclusively so. Some are simply ‘natural’ because it is about the freedom to create real wines that have a strong sense of identity & place.
We believe in wines that are made in the best way they can be, are priced honestly, and are a pleasure to drink.

We can offer you expert independent advice, free local delivery, wine tastings & education, en primeur & cellarage.
We supply wines to many of the best restaurants in Bristol, Bath, South Wales and South West England, as well as private customers, and have a reputation for excellent quality 'real' wines

Champagne Vilmart Grand Cellier N.V.

Owned and meticulously run by Rene Champs and his winemaking son Laurent, the Vilmart & Cie estate was established in 1890 on the fabled Montagne-de-Reims. Comprising a mere 11 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards planted with Chardonnay & Pinot Noir, the vines are organically tended and in the cellar, the grapes are crushed in an old fashioned vertical screw press. The non vintage Champagnes are aged for 10 months in traditional large oak vessels. The wine receives 3 years on its cork before dégorgement.
30% Chardonnay, 70% Pinot Noir - Organic

A complex and elegant wine which has a fine mousse and rich, lush, biscuity flavours.

Tasting note from Tom Stevenson MW:
" Vilmart is the greatest grower in Champagne I know"..."the Vilmart range begins at brilliant and just keeps getting better"

We can highly recommend this Champagne and it offers fantastic value at £29.50 + vat per bottle

Il Carbonaione 2004 Alta Valle Della Greve Podere Poggio Scalette

Il Carbonaione 2004 Alta Valle Della Greve Podere Poggio Scalette

Il Carbonaione 2004 Alta Valle Della Greve - THE next great Super Tuscan Sangiovese collectable.
Podere Poggio Scalette is situated high up on the hill of Ruffoli above the town of Greve in the heart of the Chianti Classico. Produced entirely from the indigenous Sangiovese di Lamole it is a veritable arcadia of vines and olive groves, pastures and woods, encapsulated perfectly by its dreamy Chagall-like label (originally hand painted by Grandmother). Having served the requisite apprenticeship to his master oenologist father Vittorio, Juri Fiore is now is now at the helm crafting beautiful, expressive wine from this unique terroir. The 2004 Il Carbonaione is a 'Super Tuscan' - but also so much more - a real wine of grace and power.
We have been selling this wine for some time and having visited Juri and the vineyard in March '08, and tasted the wine, we love it as much as ever.
(Expect a rush on it though because Mr Parker has just given it 94!)

Valduero Crianza 2003 D.O Ribero del Duero

Valduero Crianza 2003 D.O Ribero del Duero

Bodegas Valduero is one of Ribero del Duero's true gems. Ignoring the fashion for hurried winemaking, the Crianza is aged for its full term - made with 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), the concentrated intense fruit remains in perfect balance with a refined use of oak.

We've always loved this wine since discovering it in a restaurant in Majorca in 1994....and now Robert Parker does too! In February 2007 he gave it 92 out of 100. His tasting note reads:

"...notes of cedar, tobacco, scorched earth, truffle, blueberry and blackberry which jump from the glass. The fruit is ripe and sweet, the tannins soft, and the finish lasts for at least 45 seconds..."
A fabulous wine: £11.95 per bottle + Vat
