Valduero Crianza 2003 D.O Ribero del Duero Bodegas Valduero is one of Ribero del Duero's true gems. Ignoring the fashion for hurried winemaking, the Crianza is aged for its full term - made with 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), the concentrated intense fruit remains in perfect balance with a refined use of oak. We've always loved this wine since discovering it in a restaurant in Majorca in 1994....and now Robert Parker does too! In February 2007 he gave it 92 out of 100. His tasting note reads: "...notes of cedar, tobacco, scorched earth, truffle, blueberry and blackberry which jump from the glass. Crozes Ermitage 'Le Grand Courtil' 2004 Maison Ferraton Maison Ferraton in Tain L'Ermitage is a traditional winery with extensive holdings in the best plots on the great hill of Hermitage. Combining modern techniques with the spirit of biodynamism (they plough with horses!), they represent a 'third way' in the Northern Rhone. The wines all display that sense of 'somewhereness', terroir, call it what you will, that makes this region so unique.
