Sotanum 2001 Vin de Table Coteaux Seyssuel Vins de Vienne
Based upon an abandoned vineyard with direct descent to the Romans who originally planted it, top Rhone winemakers Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard & Francois Villard discovered a unique terroir, abandoned since phylloxera. In the southwest facing hills of the dry, windy and hot Côteaux Seyssuel, they found perfect growing conditions for the difficult to ripen Syrah.
The 'Super Rhône' produced from this vineyard was 'Sotanum,' a spectacular success.
Les Vins de Vienne was created with the intention of procuring the very best grapes from growers the length and breadth of the Rhône. Single vineyard parcels of late harvested old vines are then given the vinous equivalent of the 'Midas touch' to produce limited quantities of these dramatic modern Rhônes
